The Hamamelis is itself a plant mainly originating in the eastern United States and Canada, although it is now also cultivated in the European continent.
It is also known popularly by the name of the “hazel witch”, both by the resemblance with hazel as by the magical powers attributed to this plant by the sorcerers Indians.
Infitoterapia part used most of this plant are their leaves. This is because, in it, we find flavonoides and tannins that, as we know already, are some active principles more than interesting in the treatment of circulatory disorders.
In that case, the tannins come to exercise an action venotonica that aid to facilitate the contraction of the capillaries, vessels and veins, so that favors the flow of blood.
In what refers to the flavonoides, they exert a vitamin action P that causes an increase of the resistance of the small capillaries and veins, and a decrease of the hair permeability.
The latter confers on its leaves, in addition, a series of important antioxidant properties that protect the wall of the capillaries and veins.
Not in vain, as has recently revealed, the Hamamelis would be between the two best plants antioxidants, among some 65 botanical species analyzed by Japanese scientists.
